THE WALL

 Phoenix Writers' Club

     Founded in 1926

To commemorate the 80th Anniversary of PWC in May, 2006, several authors of various genres joined together and wrote a children's book entitled THE WALL.  The story escapes into the delightful adventures of nine-year-old Belinda as she goes beyond the wall into the fascinating worlds of Double Circles and One Points.  This enchanting story is intended for children of all ages, anyone with an imaginative mind who knows there's more to living than meets the eye.

The book - $12.00 plus $3.00 postage is available on Amazon.com or E-mail me at mibbles1274@msn.com . Don't miss this book.  Who knows, there may be a sequel down the road!

PWC members support and mentor each other, sharing knowledge and experiences. Whether you are a published author or just beginning to put your ideas on paper, come visit us.  Writers need writers.

 Writing Hints

Here are words to avoid in your manuscript if possible; take the time to go through your work and I think you'll be surprised how many times you use these.  A book review told me that if she found the word "was" used more than 3 times on a page, she read no furrther.  Don't let that happen to your work.  Here you go!

Linking verbs:  was, were, look, taste, smell, hear fell, appear, seen

Helping verbs:  would, can, might must, should, may, very, extremely, quite, closely.

State-of-being verbs:  am, is , are, be, being, been

Also avoid: or, nor, for, so, yet, while, whereas

Good luck!
